Endoscopic revision for medically refractory dumping syndrome after bariatric surgery: a Canadian single-center case series
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize medically refractory dumping syndrome and post-prandial hypoglycemia as important complications after bariatric surgery.
- Review the role of endoscopic revisional therapies, including transoral outlet reduction and sleeve-in-sleeve techniques, in selected patients.
- Describe technical and clinical considerations when using endoscopic approaches for management of post-bariatric metabolic complications.
- Summarize early clinical outcomes and practical lessons from a case series of endoscopic revisional therapy.
- Highlight the need for multidisciplinary assessment and individualized treatment planning in this patient population.

Dr. Ali Dashti, MD, FRCPC
Gastroenterology Fellow, University of British Columbia
Dr. Ali Dashti is a Gastroenterology Fellow at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He completed medical school at the University of Liverpool in 2018, followed by Internal Medicine residency training in Vancouver, and obtained Royal College certification in Internal Medicine in 2025. His clinical and academic interests include advanced therapeutic endoscopy, bariatric and metabolic endoscopy. Dr. Dashti has been involved in research focusing on endoscopic management of gastrointestinal and metabolic complications, including revisional endoscopic therapies for refractory dumping syndrome and post-prandial hypoglycemia. He is currently pursuing fellowship training with an interest in advanced endoscopy and outcomes-based clinical research.
