Dr. Okrainec is the Surgical Director of the Bariatric Program at University Health Network (UHN), and Program Director of the Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship at the University of Toronto. He is the Medtronic Chair in Minimally Invasive Surgery, and Professor of Surgery at the University of Toronto. His clinical practice specializes in minimally invasive upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery.
Dr. Okrainec has held leadership roles in several national and international surgical societies. He is on the Executive Board of the International Federation for the Surgery and Other Therapies for Obesity (IFSO), and currently serves as the Vice President of the Canadian Association of Bariatric Physicians and Surgeons (CABPS).

Le Dr Allan Okrainec est directeur du Temerty Advanced Surgical Education and Simulation Centre et chef de la planification et de l’infrastructure chirurgicales au Réseau universitaire de santé de Toronto. Il est professeur agrégé au Département de chirurgie de l’Université de Toronto. Sa pratique clinique est spécialisée dans la chirurgie mini-invasive gastro-intestinale supérieure et bariatrique. Le Dr Okrainec est reconnu pour son travail en télésimulation pour la formation à distance et l’évaluation des compétences chirurgicales laparoscopiques dans le monde entier. Ses intérêts académiques comprennent l’étude des progrès des techniques et technologies chirurgicales mini-invasives, y compris les résultats cliniques et les nouvelles approches éducatives pour la formation des compétences chirurgicales.
